Personality Disorders and Self-harm

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) (Both evening and day group options)

A longer-term program for individuals who have difficulty maintaining constructive relationships, regulating emotions and tolerating distressing memories, emotions or events. There is typically a pattern of destructive relationships, frequent hospitalisations, broken therapeutic relationships and self-harming or risk taking behaviour. DBT aims to break negative cycles by teaching skills needed to tolerate distress, reduce impulsivity and improve relationships. This occurs in conjunction with contracts and crisis management plans to contain potentially reinforcing inpatient admissions and individual sessions with a psychologist.

PACES: Early Intervention for Young Adults with Emerging BPD (Evenings)

An Early Intervention Program for Young Adults aged 18- 25 with problems around self-harm, interpersonal relationships, self-image and impulsive behaviour. If left untreated, these problems may become entrenched and continue through adulthood, affecting the young person’s sense of who they are and causing disruption to relationships. PACES aims to break these cycles by providing structured and youth friendly sessions that help young people to develop skills to improve their life. This is in conjunction with contracts and crisis management plans to contain potentially reinforcing inpatient admissions and individual reviews with a psychologist.

Eating Disorders

Mind and Body Therapy for binge-eating difficulties

There is growing evidence that emotional  difficulties are frequent precursor to binge-eating and that binge-eating and other types of eating pathology may provide a means of regulating emotions. This 20-week group therapy program does not focus directly on controlling or changing eating behaviours. Rather, the program aims to understand the individual and their emotions that underlie the pattern of bingeing.
